Wow. All I can say is… wow. Mr. Manley certainly outdid himself this week. Today’s edition of Punching the Clock has one of the most amazing experiences that happened during my tenure of working retail: shopping cart races. Yes, this one really did happen.
The outcome of the race I participated in? After one- count it, ONE- qualifying heat, there were collisions, overturned carts, broken bodies and a wall of DVDs scattered all over the floor.
Did I mention that our race happened to take place INSIDE the building, on the main track of the sales floor? No?
Seriously, what were the managers thinking?
We never raced again after that. Ever.

As an aside, voting is currently open for nominations for the annual Shel Dorf Awards. If you feel so inclined, maybe throw us a little love and nominate Punching the Clock for “Web Comic of the Year” or “Self Published Comic of the Year”? The Writer, Penciller and Inker “of the Year” slots are always a nice nod for Jeff and myself individually as well. If we get nominated for the final ballot, voting will continue in a couple of months! Here’s a link:
